Home Sprinklers

24/7 Protection

A home sprinkler will protect your family and home from the dangers of fire, 24 hours a day.

Every three hours a home burns in New Zealand. Each year on average 19 people lose their lives in a house fire and over $141 million damage was caused.

But the emotional and financial devastation caused by fire doesn’t have to happen. Installing a home sprinkler when you’re at the framing stage of your new home is the most cost effective way of protecting the things you value the most. But, increasingly, installing sprinklers into existing homes (retro-fitting) is becoming a viable alternative. They don’t even need to connect to your council’s water supply.

Home sprinklers use ordinary domestic plumbing and can be installed by a qualified plumber in around two days. But here are some other things you might not know about sprinklers:
  • They don’t operate all at once – only the sprinkler closest to the fire will activate
  • Sprinklers reduce fire damage – the average house fire causes $42,000 in fire and smoke damage. With sprinklers installed, it’s only around $2,000
  • Sprinklers only cost around 1 or 2% of the build price
  • Sprinklers save water – in most cases a sprinkler head would use about 600 litres of water to put out a fire. A fire crew would take about 12,500 litres
  • Sprinklers save lives – in most cases, a sprinkler will put out a fire without the family even knowing they had one.
  • Sprinklers are inconspicuous – sprinkler heads are more like light fittings than plumbing fixtures and can blend in with custom interiors
If you’re building a new home, or doing some major renovations, consider installing home sprinklers and hard-wired smoke alarms.
These are the only fire detection and suppression methods that will give you and your family round-the-clock peace of mind.
